Solutions to Climate Change: Can We Save the Earth in Time?

Did you know that 19 of the warmest years ever recorded happened this century? That’s a sure sign that the planet is warming much faster than initially predicted.

Global warming has become the most pressing issue in our lifetimes.

Scientists are asking many questions about climate change. What needs to open to reverse climate change? Is it too late to save the planet?

There are solutions to climate change that we can do collectively and as individuals. Read on to learn what they are and how you can make a difference.

1. Limit Food Waste

As much as 40% of the food supply in the United States is wasted. When you calculate how much carbon dioxide and methane cases are emitted to produce food, you’ll realize there’s an opportunity to make an environmental impact.

How can you limit food waste? Food waste happens in each step of the supply chain. Become an educated consumer about how food is produced. You can grow some food yourself and learn how to preserve it.

2. Restore Tropical Forests

Tropical forests are being decimated every single day to clear the way for more agriculture and development that we really don’t need.

The value of tropical forests is that they absorb carbon dioxide in the air. They also provide shelter for thousands of different species.

Rainforests absorb 33% less carbon dioxide and emissions have gone through the roof. As a result, global carbon dioxide levels are at the highest ever recorded.

By restoring some of these lost tropical rainforests, we can prevent species of animals from going extinct. It’s also possible to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the air.

3. Experiences Outweigh Things

We’re taught that we need to buy stuff and keep buying stuff because that’s what keeps the economy going.

The next thing you know, you have a house full of stuff that you don’t care about and don’t need. You end up donating it.

Instead of stuff, focus on experiences. Spend time in nature, go camping, or to a sporting event. The memories last much longer than things.

4. Get Involved!

There are hundreds of organizations doing good work to educate people about the effects of climate change. It helps to join or make a monetary donation to an organization that focuses on climate change.

They also provide real-world climate change solutions that you can do as an individual. Other organizations, like the Climate Leadership Council, work with political leaders to help them craft policies that are good for the economy AND the planet.

Solutions to Climate Change That Make a Difference

We’re becoming all too aware of the dire situation that climate change poses. Stronger storms, frequent fires, and rising sea levels are just some of the issues that we have to address at this moment in time.

If we fail to implement these solutions to climate change now, we risk a devastated planet, economy, and world. That’s not something we can leave to future generations to fix.

We have to do it now.
